Library History
The City of Toppenish established a permanent city library in 1922. In 1954, the City of Toppenish purchased the library's current building from the Yakama Indian Nation. The Mary L. Goodrich Toppenish Library joined the Yakima Valley Regional Library System in 1980, then annexed in 2001.
Driving directions
From I-82 Southbound:
- The Toppenish Library is approximately 20 miles from Yakima off I-82.
- Take the Toppenish-Buena exit, #50.
- Turn right at the yield sign.
- Go 2.6 miles into Toppenish, across the railroad tracks.
- You will see the library ahead on the right.
- Turn right on Washington, and then left into the parking lot.
From I-82 Northbound:
- The Toppenish Library is approximately 20 miles from Sunnyside off I-82.
- Take the Toppenish-Buena exit, #50.
- Turn left and cross over freeway.
- Go 2.6 miles into Toppenish, across the railroad tracks.
- You will see the library ahead on the right.
- Turn right on Washington, and then left into the parking lot.
From Highway 97 Southbound:
- Toppenish is about 20 miles from Yakima off Highway 97.
- You will pass the Yakama Nation Cultural Center on your right.
- Then move into the left hand turn lane.
- Turn left at the Fort Road stoplight.
- (You will see Washington Beef ahead on the right.)
- Continue on Fort Road to the next light.
- Turn left onto South Elm Street.
- Continue on South Elm about 4 blocks to Washington Avenue.
- Turn left on Washington.
- The parking lot is a half-block up on the left.
From Highway 97 Northbound:
- Turn left at the second Toppenish light, at Fort Road.
- (You will see Washington Beef on the left.)
- Continue on Fort Road to the next light.
- Turn left onto South Elm Street.
- Continue on South Elm about 4 blocks to Washington Avenue.
- Turn left on Washington.
- The parking lot is a half-block up on the left.
Parking:
Customer parking is in the lot behind the library.
