Buddy Levy is a freelance journalist and bestselling author whose work has been reviewed or featured in major publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today. His most recent book, “Empire of Ice & Stone: The Disastrous and Heroic Voyage of the Karluk,” recounts the true and harrowing story of the ill-fated 1913 Canadian Arctic Expedition and the two men who cam to define it.

Rob Phillips is a successful outdoor and nature writer who has turned to fiction with his debut novel, “The Cascade Killer”, a fast-paced mystery/thriller became a bestseller. Having written three additional titles in the Luke McCain mystery series, Phillips took a more personal approach with his most recent book, “A Dog Life Well Lived,” a collection of essays and stories about outdoor adventures with his beloved dogs.

Yakima Coffeehouse Poets is a non-profit dedicated to supporting and representing poets and poetry lovers of Central Washington. The group hosts an annual writing contest and publishes a chapbook of winning poetry each year.

Kristen Millares Young is an award-winning, Cuban American journalist and essayist whose debut novel, “Subduction,” was a finalist for two International Latino Book Awards, and was named a Staff Pick by the Paris Review. According to a review in Ms. Magazine, the novel is an “utterly unique and important [examination] of themes of love, intrusion, loss, community and trust, [set] against a backdrop of the Makah reservation in the Pacific Northwest.

Andrea Pons is a recipe developer, food stylist, and home cook. Pons was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and raised in the United States. Her cookbook, Mamacita, immortalizes recipes that she grew up with; in addition, the time she spent developing the book became a way to reconnect with her Mexican heritage. Proceeds from the original, self-published version of Mamacita helped to pay for her parents’ immigration-related legal counsel.
