Interlibrary Loan Services

Interlibrary Loan is a service that allows Yakima Valley Libraries card-holders to borrow books and other materials that are not owned by Yakima Valley Libraries.

Locating and receiving a requested item takes from two to four weeks. If you need the item quickly, please let us know when you make your request. Most items can be picked up at any Yakima Valley Libraries location of your choice. Microfilm can be viewed at the Downtown Yakima Library only.

Yakima Valley Libraries does not charge a fee for interlibrary loan but some libraries do. If the lending library does charge a fee, we would contact you for agreement before we borrowed that item for you. Fees are payable at the time of checkout.

Interlibrary Loans – materials borrowed through ILL do not belong to Yakima Valley Libraries, and we cannot set the loan period or overdue fees. Yakima Valley Libraries can only borrow what the other library is willing to lend, and we abide by their terms for loan period and fees.

To use interlibrary loan services you must have a Yakima Valley Libraries card and the account balance must be under $10.

To place an interlibrary loan request, check YVL’s catalog to make sure the item is not available locally. If the item is not available in the catalog, fill out the Suggest a Title form and check the box to request the item for ILL.
