List of items in our Local and Regional Author Collection.

    • Authors wishing to contribute a donated copy of their title for consideration must meet the following criteria:
      • A Local/Regional Author is defined as a living author/artist who currently resides in Washington, Oregon, or Idaho or who has spent a significant number of years (five years or more) living in one of these states.
      • Items included in the collection are self-published or independently published material which has a cover, a title page, and a binding/format strong enough to withstand multiple readings/circulations. Spiral-bound items will not be accepted.
      • Up to two (2) donated copies will be considered for the Local & Regional Author Collection (LRAC) which will be housed at the Yakima Central Library. Donations not added to the LRAC will not be returned.
        • Donations are the property of the library and will be subject to standard YVL collection development, maintenance, and removal guidelines.
        • Inappropriate formats will not be added.
        • Class project material will NOT be considered.
      • Donated copies accepted for the LRAC will be cataloged and appear in our online catalog. As this collection is limited in size, items will be removed at the discretion of the Library to make room for newer material. Removed titles will not be returned to the contributor.
      • Donations for LRAC consideration may be submitted to library staff, with a completed LRAC Donation form, during regular library business hours at any Yakima Valley Libraries community library location or mailed to the following address: Yakima Valley Libraries, ATTN: L & R AUTH SHELF, 102 N 3RD ST, YAKIMA, WA 98901.
        • (Materials with inaccurate address may be submitted to the Yakima Valley Libraries Foundation with other donated materials.)
      • Donations for LRAC consideration should not be submitted through the book drop, as they may be confused with other donated material that is sent directly to the Yakima Valley Libraries Foundation.
      • Authors should complete a LRAC Donation form which must be included with the book(s) being donated to the library.
