PROGRAM OVERVIEW – BY AGE GROUP

    BABIES & TODDLERS (AGES 0-3)

For the Babies & Toddlers program, participants ages 0-3 (and their grown-ups) are challenged to read 4 times a week for at least 5 weeks between June 12th-August 5th.

Fill in a space for each day that you read at least one book to your child and earn stickers for every 4 days of reading you and your child complete. Babies/toddlers will earn a fun reward once the 20-book goal is reached.

Remember: Only one book per day counts toward your daily reading goal!

    CHILDREN (AGES 4-11)

For the Children’s Program, participants ages 4-11 are challenged to track their daily reading in increments of 20 minutes per day, while working toward a goal of 20 days of summer reading.

    • For each day that participants ages 4-11 read, or are read to, for 20 (or more) minutes, they can color in a circle on their paper reading log.
    • Participants earn stickers for each day of reading they complete, plus a reward for finishing Day 10 and Day 20
    • In addition to their Day 20 reward, children ages 4-11 who complete the program will earn a ticket for the end-of-summer raffle

Remember: Participants can read more than 20 minutes each day, but only the first 20 minutes count toward the daily reading goal for the Summer Reading Program!

    TEENS (AGES 12-18)

For the Tween/Teen Program, participants ages 12-18 are challenged to complete a game of Book BINGO, where they’ll work toward a ‘bingo’ by reading books and/or completing activities that match various categories on their game card.

    HOW TEEN BOOK BINGO WORKS:

    • When teens sign up for the Tween/Teen program in-person, they’ll receive a paper Book BINGO card; as they complete a category/square, they should write the title and author in the designated square.
    • Teens must complete at least one BINGO (i.e., five filled-in squares in a row on their game card) to be eligible for a finishers’ reward (a button of their choice) AND their ticket for the end-of-summer raffle for teens.
    • Although teens only need to complete one BINGO on the game card to finish the program and earn a raffle ticket, the BINGO card allows teens to earn up to four extra raffle tickets (five total), for each additional BINGO they complete.
