2021 Summer Reading

Explore Tails and Tales with Yakima Valley Libraries this summer!

From June 14th – August 14th, we’re challenging kids and teens to track your reading and earn rewards for reaching reading goals.

    Registration begins on June 14.

Visit your community library to sign up OR see below for online registration options.

For the Children’s Program, participants ages 0-11 are challenged to track their daily reading in increments of 25 minutes per day, while working toward a goal of 20 days (or 500 minutes) of summer reading.

    • For each day that participants read, or are read to, for 25+ minutes, they can color in a circle on their paper reading log OR log reading minutes digitally, using our ReadSquared website.
    • Participants earn a reward for Day 7 and Day 14 of reading, plus a readers’ reward pack for completing the program by reading for a total of 20 days (500 minutes).
    • Reading Rewards will NOT be distributed until July 14.

Remember: Participants can read more than 25 minutes each day, but only the first 25 minutes count toward the daily reading goal!
